Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Carbon Verify CBAM website and browser-based application, provided by Jesse Seaward, trading as Carbon Verify. By using a paid licence, you agree to these terms. Lemon Squeezy's checkout terms also apply to payment and billing.

The service

Carbon Verify CBAM is a record-keeping and readiness tool for UK importers. It provides an indicative scope check, helps organise import, supplier and evidence records, and creates dated working exports for review. A workspace is intended to hold the records for one importing business at a time.

Not professional advice, verification or filing

The service does not provide commodity-code or customs classification advice, tax, customs or legal advice, independent emissions verification, or HMRC registration, filing or payment. It does not guarantee that an adviser, verifier or HMRC will accept a record or conclusion. You remain responsible for obtaining appropriate professional advice and meeting applicable requirements and deadlines.

Rules snapshot and updates

The initial release uses a UK CBAM rules snapshot dated 30 August 2026. Legislation, guidance, thresholds, dates and procedures can change. A dated snapshot helps show the basis used; it is not a promise that the law will remain unchanged or that every future change will be available immediately. Check current official guidance before relying on an assessment or submitting anything.

Licence

• A subscription provides one active browser/user licence, subject to the product configuration shown at checkout.
• The licence is for the subscribing customer's internal business use. It may not be resold, shared to provide access to others, or bypassed or reverse engineered to defeat licence controls.
• Moving access to another browser may require deactivating the current browser first. Contact support if a legitimate activation cannot be moved.
• The licence check is a practical access control, not a promise that browser-based software is technically impossible to copy or alter.

Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation

Advertised subscription prices exclude VAT. VAT is added at checkout where applicable. Lemon Squeezy calculates the applicable tax and shows the total before you pay.

The CBAM Record Book is offered as a monthly or annual subscription at the price selected in checkout. The chosen subscription renews automatically at the price and renewal date shown at checkout or in the renewal notice unless cancelled beforehand. You can cancel through the Lemon Squeezy customer portal. Cancellation stops future renewal and normally leaves access available until the end of the paid period.

Refunds and statutory rights

Refund and cancellation requests are handled through Lemon Squeezy and Carbon Verify support. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Business customers may have different statutory rights from consumers.

Your records and responsibilities

• Enter complete and accurate information and retain the underlying import, supplier and emissions evidence.
• Confirm commodity codes, customs classifications, values, weights, origins, responsible importer and threshold treatment with an appropriately qualified person where needed.
• Do not treat an indicative result, a missing supplier response or an unverified figure as a final professional conclusion.
• Review every generated summary and export before relying on it or sharing it with an adviser.
• Keep exported backups. Browser storage can be cleared by the browser, device policy or user, and Carbon Verify cannot restore a local workspace from its own server.
• Use the service lawfully and do not make misleading compliance or environmental claims from its output.

Availability and changes

The service may be changed to reflect legislation, guidance, security needs and compatibility requirements. Reasonable efforts are made to keep it available, but uninterrupted or error-free operation is not guaranteed. Features may change where reasonably necessary, while respecting access already paid for and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Liability

Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, Carbon Verify is not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate or incomplete user data, unsupported assumptions, missing or unverified evidence, failure to seek professional advice, failure to review an output, changes in law or guidance, missed statutory deadlines, loss of locally stored browser data, or use outside the service's stated purpose.

Intellectual property

Carbon Verify's application code, branding and original content remain the property of their respective owner. You retain ownership of the information you enter and your organisation-specific exported records.

Ending access

Access may be suspended for licence abuse, unlawful use or material breach of these terms. Cancellation or expiry ends paid access in line with the subscription status. Legitimately exported files remain with you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without removing any mandatory rights a consumer has under the law that applies to them.
